The Town of Erwin will begin its Fall roadside pick-up of brush only (no leaves) on Tuesday September 7, 2010. Brush may only be placed by the curb beginning Saturday, September 4th, no earlier. Observing this rule will enhance safety for residents using Town roads, reduce the risk from flooding, and reduce damage to Town storm drainage structures such as ditches, gutters and catch basins.
For roadside pick-up, yard waste should be no longer than 8 feet; stacked neatly parallel to the road, not in the road and not in ditches, away from utility poles, fences, planted bushes and other obstructions such as mail boxes. The yard waste must be more than will fit in a pick-up truck, and neighbors are encouraged to stack debris in one 8 foot pile, rather than several small ones. No bags are allowed and no grass clippings or leaves will be accepted for roadside pick-up.
Leaves will be picked up at the roadside beginning October 25th. Christmas trees will also be picked up at the roadside.
Leaves, grass clippings and other yard waste can still be brought to the yard waste drop-off site through October 30th. The drop-off site is located on Route 417 west of Sirianni Hardwood and the Specialty Cellular Ceramics facility. The drop-off site is open Saturday from 9:00 am to noon for all Town residents (including Village of Painted Post residents). Branches must be separated from grass/leaves. No bags are allowed. Only yard waste is allowed. No other objects or dumping will be accepted.
A FREE permit is required. These permits can be obtained AT NO CHARGE from the Town Clerk's office, 117 West Water Street, Painted Post weekdays between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Permits must be shown each time yard waste is brought to the disposal site. This service is free to all Town residents. Details of the Town's yard waste policy are available on the Town's website www.erwinny.org and at the Town Hall, 117 West Water Street, Painted Post, NY 14870.
