The Town of Erwin Town Board is composed of five members - the Town Supervisor and four Councilmen. The Town Board meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 4:00 pm in the Town Hall. The public is always welcome and encouraged at these meetings.

The public is invited to address the board by sending comments via mail to 310 Town Center Rd, Painted Post, NY 14870; via email to townoferwin@erwinny.org; or calling Town Clerk, Eve D. Fisher, at 607-936-3652. All comments will be shared entirely and directly with the board. Virtual participation is available. Request virtual meeting sign-in information via telephone or mail as listed above.

2025 Tentative Assessment Roll & Grievances

The Tentative Assessment Roll will be published on May 1,2025, and will be available with the Assessor at 310 Town Center Road, PaintedPost, NY 14870, on the Town of Erwin website (www.erwinny.org), and on theSteuben County website (https://www.steubencountyny.gov/347/assessment-rolls).

The Assessor will be available with the Tentative AssessmentRoll on the following dates:

·        Tuesday, May 13, 2025: 9 AM – 1 PM

  • Wednesday, May 14, 2025: 9 AM- 11AM and 6 PM – 8 PM
  • Thursday, May 15, 2025: 1 PM – 3 PM
  • Saturday, May 17, 2025: 8 AM – 12 PM 

Appointments are required for grievancesand must be made prior to May 20th. Please call or email the Assessor toschedule an appointment.

Property owners who wish to contest their assessment canparticipate in the annual grievance process.

Grievance applications (Form RP-524) will be available atthe Assessor’s Office or here and must be filed by May 20th. Applications willbe accepted starting May 1, and early filing is appreciated. Hearings with theBoard of Assessment Review will be scheduled in the order applications arereceived. Property owners may also meet with the Assessor during the first fourweeks in May to agree on a stipulation.

 A completed RP-524 form and supporting documentation(such as comparable sales, photos, or a recent appraisal) is required.

The Board of Assessment Review will meet on Tuesday,May 27 to hear grievances from 10 AM to 12 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at theErwin Town Hall. They will hear and examine all scheduled and filed complaintsin relation to assessments upon the application of any person believingthemselves to be aggrieved.
